Star Wars Episode 9 – The Rise of Skywalker [Trailers]

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, also known as Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker, or in a much more popular way “Star Wars Episode 9” or “Star Wars 9” will hit theatres around the world on December, 20 and it will be the third and last film in the Star Wars sequel trilogy.
There are many theories and rumours about what will happen in this next film. Obviously the big surprises are yet to be revealed. But apart that, from what has been released, what do we know so far?
The first Star Wars 9 trailer was revealed at Star Wars Celebration 2019 in Chicago, teasing the return of the Emperor Palpatine. Due to his presumed death in The Return of the Jedi, it remains to be seen how he will face off against our heroes. The second trailer, which premiered at DC23 Expo, give us more details – Rey holding a red lightsaber and C3-PO with red eyes.
From Star Wars Teaser #1:
The trailer opens with Rey in Pasaana, a desert planet on the edge of the galaxy, home of the Aki-Aki species. The first thing we notice is the fully repaired Lightsaber of Luke Skywalker hanging on her waist. The Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber was broken in two after Rey and Kylo Ren were involved in a war force tug after she denied kylo’s proposal to rule The First Order by his side.
As Rey draws her weapon, a ship speeds at a distance revealing a slightly different TIE Silencer from the one we know. It’s got the wings of a Thai Silencer but a new cockpit. Compared to the original it has more red markings on its cockpit and what looks like white panels on the wings – not black as the previous one, first introduced in The Last Jedi.
We are being led to believe that’s Kylo Ren piloting the ship. It may be true. We have no idea if it’s an attack or just a training session. And then Rey does this awesome flip over the ship… cool as hell!!! It is obvious that the Jedi abilities of Rey have considerably evolved. She shows her mastery of the Force Jump, clearly using it to prevent being gored by the TIE Silencer.
And then we are in the forest with kylo Ren smashing some guy with his lighsaber. Perhaps someone from the local fighting force. In the background we can see a stormtrooper fighting with him.
Next, is Kylo’s helmet being repaired. And that’s an interesting shot. The most intriguing thing here is that is not Kylo Ren’s hands doing the work. So, who could be? He destroyed his helmet after Supreme Leader Snoke mocked it in The Last Jedi. It was also a way of stepping out of Vader’s shadow and become more than just a wannabe. So, it must be a compelling reason for him to wear it again considering he didn’t rebuild his helmet right away.
Now we’ve got Finn and Poe back on the same desert word. There is nothing to notice about, except that he’s carrying Rey’s staff. Nothing to really say about it. I guess this image gives us a little more context on this planet.
And BB-8 has a new friend. D-O will be making its debut at Episode IX. I’m not very excited about it. I’ll just wait and see.
And it’s officially confirmed that Lando is going to return. And he’s back right where we last saw him at the end of The Return of the Jedi, sitting in the Millennium Falcon pilot’s seat and having a great time. His co-pilot is no other than Chewbacca, who accompanies Lando on a hyperspace jump. So happy to see him back! He’s just the coolest guy on the film.
The next shot is a little action sequence on that same desert planet. Looks like first-order vehicles and Jetpack Troopers chasing Poe, Finn and a very out-of-place C-3PO.
There’s also a shot of a sunset battle that shows an unfortunate RZ2 A-Wing getting blown to bits in front of a First Order Star Destroyer.
The next shot we can see a pair of hands holding one of the medals that Leia gave to Luke and Han in Yavin at the end of A New Hope. In the closing scene of this film we saw Leia awarding medals to Luke and Han for “excellence in Death Star destruction”. We can’t see whose hands they are, but we can assume they might belong to Leia.
There’s a brief shot of Leia and Rey embracing in a forest setting. There’s no doubt is the most touching moment of the first teaser as Luke’s voice-over intones, “We’ll always be with you”. The scenes, featuring the late Carrie Fisher in The Rise of Skywalker are unused footage from The Force Awakens. While it’s unclear why or when they are sharing this moment, we know that this embrace in Episode VII changed the course of Episode IX’s story, one way or another.
Rey, Finn, Poe, C3-PO, D-O, BB-8 and Chewbacca… they’re all looking at the remains of a Death Star. Which one and which planet we don’t know. The first Death Star was blown up at the Battle of Yavin, and the other above the forest moon of Endor, with the Emperor on board. My guess is that we’re seeing what’s left of the second Death Star. But the surroundings look less like Endor, and possibly more like Yavin. According to the The Force Awakens’ Art Book, the idea of visiting underwater ruins of the second Death Star was previously considered for that film, specifically the Emperor’s throne room. So, what could Rey and her friends be hunting for there?

Palpatine is back?
Now it’s official! The laugh we heard at the end of the first teaser is in fact from Emperor Palpatine. Director J.J. Abrams has confirmed that the great villain of the original trilogy is back.
As far as we know, he died in the second Death Star, after his apprentice, Darth Vader, betrayed his master during the Battle of Endor and threw him down a shaft.
But apparently his story didn’t end quite there. It is not yet known how Emperor Palpatine will return. And maybe he wasn’t as dead as we thought and managed to cling to life in the wreckage of Death Star II.
According to the Aftermath books, a trilogy set in the aftermath of the Empire’s collapse, Palpatine made a lot of preparations to ensure that the Empire would be reborn in the event of his death, resulting in the rise of the First Order.
But Why? Why would he care about the state of the Empire, unless he hoped to cheat death? Was Snoke merely a puppet?
From Star Wars Teaser #2:
While the trailer is heavy on footage from earlier “Star Wars” movies, it reveals some footage that has never been seen before.
Rey , Finn, Poe, Chewbacca, C-3PO together in the planet Pasaana. We can also see the Millenium Falcon on the background. They are in the same Planet we saw the speeder chase and Rey’s dance with a TIE fighter. It looks like some kind of celebration, but what they all are doing there it’s just all a big unknown.
We see Leia Organa in an unknown jungle or forest world, smiling at someone. Because her dress matches the one we see her embracing Rey in the first trailer in a similar setting, she’s probably smiling at Rey.
In the next shoot we see the resistance fleet emerging from the hyperspace. And we got them all. Y-Wing bombers, T-70 X-Wing from The Force Awakens, the RZ-2 A-Wing interceptor from The Last Jedi, the classic B-Wing from the Return of the Jedi. Also glimpsed among the fleet is a lone Corellian Blockade Runner. I imagine these will be updated models of each ship for it seems a desperate Resistance.
Moving to the next shot, there’s an entire fleet of Star Destroyers against a stormy sky. But they are not first-order Star Destroyers seen in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, but they’re Imperial class, AKA from Palpatine’s time as Emperor, which is an amazing surprise! The way they’re setup gives the impression like the Empire has a hidden fleet out in the middle of nowhere. Maybe it’s what the Empire left out in the Unknown Regions as they moved into the First Order, or perhaps it’s something completely new. Has the Sith Lord been hiding a huge fleet of battleships all this time?
Then we see Finn and Jannah, both aboard what could be the Millenium Falcon’s cockpit or might actually be a different ship. Remember there’s a B-Wing flying around on the plot. The outside of the ship looks like it’s kind of stormy so maybe they’re shocked expressions are a reaction to all those Star Destroyers seen before.
And there it is! Because of the red eyes, you may not recognize him, but it is C-3PO! I think the instinct here is to imagine that he’s gone evil. But who on earth would want to corrupt C-3PO? I’m gonna guess that this is just a new mode for the droid that we’ve never seen before or perhaps some kind of tinkering.
Next, we see a mountain being torn apart by a furious beam of energy. Who is attacking the planet and why I don’t have a clue.
And we back to the forest world from earlier, Rey is training with her lightsaber and there is a remote training floating nearby. She’s apparently angry and frustrated as she throws her lightsaber, cuts through some trees and calls it back again. The forest planet very much looks like Endor. So… bring us back the Ewoks!
Then we see Kylo walking away from his TIE and igniting his lightsaber. This looks more akin to the classic Imperial TIE Interceptor, not the Silencer of The Last Jedi.
But then we see Ray and Kylo fighting on a metal cliff in what it appears to be the remains of the second Death Star which is great! We don’t know what this planet is yet, but it’s probably somewhere close to Endor.
After we cut to black, we ear the Emperor saying your journey is near its end. And then we got the big shot…Ray in black robes, cold and distant… as she unsheathed a double-bladed lightsaber, similar to that of Darth Maul’s from The Phantom Menace. The red blades are unstable which indicates two cracked Kyber crystals. It’s possible that this means to show Rey’s instability. She may be given over to the dark side but still conflict within her.
Has Rey really taken the dark path?
Has she been turned to the Dark Side by Palpatine? Well… I think that’s unlikely. But Star Wars is full of mysterious things. So…it’s really her or a tempting vision of what she could be?
It would be a huge deal if Rey turned to the Dark Side in Star Wars 9, and one of the biggest plot twists in the entire saga. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Palpatine created this vision to torment or manipulate Rey. It could be just like in The Empire Strikes Back, when Luke confronts a vision of Darth Vader, only to find himself and his own face under the Vader’s mask.
It feels more plausible because by the end of The Last Jedi she was very much committed to the Light Side.
As always, we’ll have to wait and see

Palpatine is back? That’s simply awesome to know of. I just knew it that the death of Darth Vader shouldn’t have been the reasons to see the last of him in the series. Glad to see he is back. Also, the teaserrsi wastcher here are really getting me excited to guess what is to come from this latest addition to the series. I really have got my fingers crossed while I calmly await for it. I don’t really by into ideas of learning about the teasers and trailers but concerning this latest star wars, I’m up for ll the possible updates that is to come. Thanks
Nope. There’s no WAY C-3PO could be turned evil! I just won’t believe it! LOL Great to hear that Palpatine is back and even better about Chewbacca. Its just not Star Wars without them! All of these teasers have just left me drooling to see it! I swear the Millenium Falcon must be completely indestructible (compared to the massive death stars). I certainly hope to see more Ewoks and the flash back scenes sound great! I can’t wait!
