The Mandalorian TV Series | Official Trailer, Posters & Behind The Scenes

The Mandalorian Disney TV Series

“After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic….”

Scheduled for November 12, at the premiere of Disney+, the company’s new streaming service, The Mandalorian places Pedro Pascal (best known for playing Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones) in the role of this solitary soldier at the most remote locations in the galaxy.

The series will be one of the big releases at the Disney+ and the first season will have 10 episodes. A second season is already in production, as confirmed by the creator of the series Jon Favreau.

The story takes place seven years after the Episode VI – Return of the Jedi events (so five years after the Empire’s final defeat at the Battle of Jakku and 25 years before Episode VII – The Force Awakens) , and explores the period between the original trilogy and will focus on all-new characters.

The Mandalorians have always been present in the Star Wars universe and at various times they have had roles of great relevance. Their actions were responsible for capturing Han Solo in Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back and played a key role during the Clonic Wars. Favreau has already proved to be a great fan of bounty hunters and intends to honor the fame and importance that these characters have built over the years.

The Empire’s gone, and all hell’s breaking loose in the Outer Rim,” Favreau said during a recent television interview. “It’s kinda like when you meet Han Solo at the beginning of Star Wars, or A New Hope, and you have sort of the starport bar. And I always loved those characters; I always loved the rogues’ gallery of bounty hunters in Empire Strikes Back, and I always wanted to see more about it. I got together with a guy, Dave Filoni, who’s my partner on this one as producer. And we’re writing this stuff, and it’s honestly like turning over your toy chest and playing with all the Star Wars toys together. We’re having a great time.”

At Star Wars Celebration Chicago in April, Pascal said the Mandalorian is “a mysterious lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy. Some might say he has questionable moral character.

Pedro Pascal will be joined by Giancarlo Esposito (who played Gus Fring in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul); MMA fighter and Deadpool actress Gina Carano; Emily Swallow from Supernatural; Carl Weathers of Rocky and Predator fame; Down and Out in Beverly Hills actor Nick Nolte; Omid Abtahi from American Gods; Taika Waititi from Thor: Ragnarok; Agents of SHIELD’s Ming-Na Wen; and Werner Herzog (who directed and narrated Grizzly Man).

Jon Favreau, Filoni, Colin Wilson and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy will be the executive producers. Karen Gilchrist will be co-executive producer.

Besides the first trailer, Disney and Lucasfilm have already shared the series’ promotional posters. Little is known about the backstage of the series, but since announcing the show, Favreau has been drooping a few hints and updates on Instagram. See it below.
